IP Australia opened a new patent examination centre in Melbourne today, to meet the future needs of Australia’s innovators. The Melbourne Patent Examination Centre will be responsible for examining patent applications in the fields of chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry and electronics.

World IP Day - 3 March 2009
We strongly recommend to attend and review all information about one of the most important events relating to intellectual Property, World IP Day. This year the primary focus is Green Innovation. As announced by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), promoting environmentally friendly inventions is the key to a secure future. Each year World IP Day is celebrated across the globe on 26 April. It was established to highlight the significance of creativity and innovation in people's daily lives and in the betterment of society.

IP Australia to support LESANZ Annual Conference - 29 January 2009
IP Australia is pleased to support the annual conference of the Licensing Executives Society of Australia and New Zealand (LESANZ) to be held in Canberra from 2-4 April. Grants for investment in energy efficient machinery, cogeneration and water recycling - 20 December 2008
Projects undertaken by manufacturers to improve their production processes, cut carbon emissions and reduce energy use may be elegible to claim 50% (from $10,000 to $500,000).

New Commercial Ready Plus (small) grant released by AusIndustry
Small businesses seeking funding for commercialisation have a new opportunity through the Government funded Commercial Ready Plus program. The program offers grants of $50,000 to $250,000 for innovation projects of up to 18 months duration to SMEs and to companies controlled by Australian universities and public sector research organisations. The Commercial Ready Plus program also offers a faster and simpler application process than for large grants.
